Canada's Blue Jays Earn Fall Classic Meeting Versus defending champion Dodgers
Springer previously helped the Astros claiming the championship in the 2017 season.
The Toronto Blue Jays reached their maiden Fall Classic following the 1993 season by beating the Seattle Mariners in the final game seven of the ALCS.
Trailing three runs to one, outfielder George Springer delivered a three-run blast in the seventh inning, leading the sole Canadian team in the majors to a 4-3 victory in the best-of-seven series. Next up are the Dodgers, the team that is the current crown, in the forthcoming World Series.
"I'm thrilled for this squad, our city, Canada," said Springer, a star of the Houston Astros team that claimed the 2017 title. "It's truly an unbelievable moment."
Springer has now slugged 23 total post-season home runs, placing him third on the list trailing only Ramirez (29) and Jose Altuve (27).
"It's hard to imagine another person on planet Earth that I'd prefer in that situation except for Springer with his October magic," remarked manager John Schneider.
Seattle, after leading the series 2-0 and 3-2, continue to be the only MLB franchise that has never reached in a Fall Classic.
Manager Dan Wilson stated "there's no question that it's going to sting" in the wake of his team's loss at Toronto's Rogers Centre, but applauded their work in the campaign.
"This is a unique group. Unfortunately that we ended up on the unsuccessful side of this one," he remarked.
The Blue Jays won the championship on each of their earlier trips in 1992 and '93, and will host the Los Angeles in the opener on the upcoming Friday.
