Former Physician Faces Sexual Assault Charges Against 38 Patients
Prosecutors have stated that a ex- doctor has been charged with carrying out assaults against thirty-eight individuals who were patients.
The Grave Allegations
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of dozens of sexual offences – some of which involve some against children younger than 13 – between 2017 and 2021.
One senior prosecutor said, “Our prosecutors have worked at length to support a thorough and intricate police inquiry, carefully reviewing the available evidence to determine that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
The Police Inquiry
These allegations come after what investigators described as a “detailed inquiry” into alleged assaults at medical facilities: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.
The defendant is due to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on January 20th.
List of Charges
Prosecutors outline the forty-five sexual offences include:
- Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
- Seventeen counts of assault by penetration.
- Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- One count of attempted penetrative assault.
Authorities have asked anyone with concerns to get in touch with the investigating team.
