Slot Maintains He Feels Secure and Has The Club's Support Following PSV Eindhoven Defeat

Arne Slot conceded that it's natural for concerns to be asked about his future after a further convincing defeat versus PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool endured their ninth defeat in 12 matches, representing the club's poorest run after being relegated in 1953-54.

They were outplayed by the Eredivisie champions on a difficult night at their home ground.

“I feel secure, I am OK, I have got plenty of backing from above,” Slot commented.

“It's important to turn it around and get a victory naturally but when you're working as a coach and underperforming then it is normal that people question you.”

He continued, “I am OK with my situation. This isn't the first time I’ve been in a challenging situation but it is about time that we changed our fortunes.”

Conversations with The Board

When asked to provide details on his discussions with the Liverpool hierarchy, Slot explained:

“We talk a lot. They are supportive for the squad and to me and those talks happen but they don't phone me every single minute of the day to say they have faith in me.”

He further stated, “During our regular conversations we have I perceive the trust. But I haven’t spoken to them after this game yet so let’s see.”

Persistent Issues and Player Response

Slot lamented familiar weaknesses from his team in their European loss, namely missed opportunities and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was more direct in his assessment of the current crisis.

“I don’t have the solutions. Truthfully, I do not. I’m saying that to everyone,” Jones said.

“It's simply not good enough. I don't have to wait to consider it. I'm beyond getting mad internally. I’m at the point currently where I simply lack the words.”

He went on, “It's difficult because I play for the side I follow. I’m a fan, and I’ve seen this club all my life.”

“In a long, long time, I've not seen a Liverpool team going through a period like this with outcomes like these.”

Jones concluded, “But we continue to wear the crest on our chest. And until that badge is removed, we'll continue to battle.”

“We’re going to try to bring this squad back to its rightful place, show everyone again what this club is about and why it's known as the greatest side in the world.”

“But right now, we're in trouble and it must improve.”
