The Fifth Toy Story Film Teaser Sets Woody and Buzz Against a Digital Device
It has been 30 anniversary after the first Toy Story movie was released, launching Pixar as a major animation studio and bringing viewers to beloved figures like Woody (the actor) and Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.
Coming in 2026, the next chapter is scheduled for release. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 appeared recently, providing a brief look into the plot but leaving fans curious how it will resolve the ending of Toy Story 4.
Bonnie's New Toy: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Spooks the Gang
In the teaser shows Bonnie — who inherited the toy collection when he grew up — getting a brand new toy, one that terrifies Woody, Buzz, and the crew. She gets her first tablet computer, and she is excited about it.
Theoretically, the frog-shaped tablet will animate just like Bonnie's other toys. However, the characters seem to view it as a danger intending to supplant them, which it probably is.
The Cowboy's Comeback: Mysteries from Toy Story 4
An element the teaser avoids is what the sheriff is back with his friends in the child's bedroom. The end of Toy Story 4 depicted him embark on a new adventure with Bo Peep (Annie Potts), traveling with a carnival and assisting prize toys find good homes.
Certainly, Pixar will explain the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Seeing him show up in Bonnie's room without warning is a little strange, however. It also makes us wonder whether his partner will have returned with him. And where is Duke Caboom (the star)?
Connections from the Last Installment
At the very least, some elements are carrying over from the earlier movie. The final act Woody did before setting off for his fresh path was hand over his symbol of authority to Jessie (the voice actor), leaving her in charge of the toy domain. In the teaser shows the insignia attached to her shirt.
It is hoped she is still the key figure among the group.
Toy Story 5 debuts on June 19, 2026.
