The Renowned Musician Urges Public Help to Propel Together for Palestine Lullaby to UK Holiday Chart Peak.
A fundraising initiative is aiming to launch a cultural melody to the peak of the festive singles chart. The project aims to send support to people in Gaza while also highlighting Palestinian cultural expression.
A Possibility for Unity and an "Unlikely Coup"
Musician and artist Brian Eno, who contributes to the track, stated that the single 'Lullaby' represents a chance to support Palestinians this festive season. He noted the potential for an unlikely festive coup.
“That would be amazing if that happened, yes,” he stated. “I won't be completely disheartened if it doesn't manage to, festive releases are a thing unto themselves.”
Resilient Spirit of Self-Determination
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who performs on the reimagining of a folk song called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the piece's resilient spirit.
“It has a deeply meaningful spot for many individuals,” Barghouti shared. “It’s basically saying that I would prefer a dignified death than live a life without freedom. That’s the main theme of the song; we seek to lead a life of dignity that we merit as a people.”
Track's Background and Contributing Musicians
The single was laid down following a major charity concert held in September. Originally intended to be captured during the live event, the rendition was omitted from the lengthy event due to scheduling overruns.
The notable list of artists appearing on Lullaby includes a group of well-known figures from the scene. All participated in the benefit event, which reportedly raised a substantial amount for charitable causes.
Production and Release
Lullaby was produced by a group of producers and composers. The single showcases a fusion of the traditional Arabic lyrics with freshly written English words.
The organizers behind the initiative have clarified that their objective is to generate maximum funds for a charitable pot. These proceeds will be allocated to Palestinian causes through an established charity.
“There is no a fixed goal,” a figure commented. “We’ll go for as much as possible. Obviously, the greater the amount, the better. All proceeds are directed out to the people of Gaza.”
The reality in the territory was noted for its extreme devastation, with a vast majority of buildings reportedly levelled or seriously harmed.
“Against that backdrop, a handful of millions doesn’t make that much difference. But I think what does make a difference is above all raising awareness for this issue and demonstrating there’s another side to the story.”
The single 'Lullaby' is set to be released this Friday. Additionally, a complete film of the charity concert will be made accessible to view on a digital service from the 19th of December.
