Week six of the 2025 NFL season
Real-time updates includes live text for Sunday's games via multiple platforms, beginning with Denver Broncos v New York Jets at Tottenham (kicking off at 2 PM BST). Additionally, audio coverage is available through designated networks covering another key matchup (from 21:00 BST).
It's week six in the football calendar , following recent talk about the Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles being a potential Super Bowl match-up, each surrendered their unbeaten records.
Striking during those contests were the number of infractions both conceded. The Eagles did so in key moments so they essentially defeated themselves having led 17-3 going into the final quarter versus Denver, who play in London this Sunday.
However it was good to observe how Denver's QB Bo Nix was able to have that deficit before lead three scoring drives on three possessions in the fourth quarter, to win the victory 21-17.
Denver boast the defensive player of the year with CB Pat Surtain II. They are number one in red zone defence, while Philadelphia are number one in red zone offence, and the Broncos won that contest.
They had the Eagles' number in terms of simulated pressure. They did not necessarily sending more than four pass rushers instead they might position two linebackers in the interior before withdrawing them and send a nickel off the edge.
Early on in the campaign, we said during a show that the Broncos could be the current year's dark horses. They finished the previous year well then did a good job in continuing that momentum.
Are the Denver Broncos this season's dark horses?
Recently acquired TE their tight end has stepped up big and new running back JK Dobbins is a guy the team trusts. He's currently 5th in the NFL for rushing yards (402) and tied-fourth in rushing scores (4).
It's impressive how head coach Sean Payton has "RUSH!" at the top on his call sheet.
That shows that the Broncos are a squad that wants to run first, since you can achieve much based on that approach. It slows down the pass rush and keeps you in positive situations.
This has benefited quarterback Bo Nix, who entered into the league as the 12th overall draft pick last year, passing for 29 TDs – second only to a star QB in rookie records (31 back in 2020).
Josh Allen and Herbert have powerful arms to pass all over, but they lack the mobility that Nix has. He boasts incredible arm talent, a unique trait, and he is so athletic.
His assets are his mobility, being able to throw on the run, and finding different arm angles to deliver the pass as he moves outside protection, on rollouts. He is able to throw precision throws across the middle and past defenders.
For a young quarterback, aged 25, he's got a lot of composure in the pocket and is not bothered by the blitz. He tries to avoid being tackled as much as possible and is able throw in tight spots. He possesses a high football IQ and remains very decisive.
If you consistently rush it eats up the clock and forces the defence to be on the field extended periods, and if you have a mobile QB the defense has to defend the field vertically and horizontally. It can be draining.
Nix has bitten back with the coach during games sometimes and I think the coach appreciates that attitude, seeing him as such a competitor. In my view it's exciting for the coach to have a rookie QB who's similar to play-dough. The coach can really develop him the way he wants to shape him. I believe it's a unique opportunity for the coach.
Payton has won a Super Bowl and has surpassed a legend in all-time victories (173, tying for 14th). He's seen it all. In my opinion the achievements Denver are having on offence is largely down to his leadership, his schemes, his game sense – and the pairing with Nix helps make him what he is.
There's no better a more qualified person guiding you, to assist you during some of the tougher situations and boost self-belief.
I have faith in the Broncos' defense, in Bo Nix's tenacity and composure. Yet are they strong enough to go against an elite team at full strength? Because that was not a Super Bowl performance by the Eagles in their last game.
Right now, it's unlikely Denver are elite. They're performing above average, that's a solid position to hold their division. All they need is to continue this trajectory.
They're really good at embracing their forte, which is the ground game, and this is exactly what they should do against the New York Jets at Tottenham. It's going to be the JK Dobbins show, in essence.
The Jets have surrendered 140 yards on the ground each contest (sixth worst), five rushing touchdowns this season (10th worst), and they are the sole squad without a win any game.
Ever since the league began tracking turnovers decades ago, this team are the inaugural squad to go without any turnovers through five games, this is surprising when you think that the head coach was previously defensive co-ordinator with another team.
Patrick Mahomes says the Chiefs are off to a poor start following Monday's defeat by the Jaguars.
After this Sunday's game, the Broncos face a manageable slate until their break (in week 12) - the Giants, Dallas Cowboys, Houston Texans plus the Raiders prior to the Kansas City Chiefs.
In the AFC West, the Chiefs are 2-3 while Denver are even with the Los Angeles Chargers on 3-2 so they could challenge at leading the division.
It depends upon which form Kansas City shows up they meet because the Broncos {beat|def
